Tourmaline was a rock group Will formed with Slugfest bassist Steve Okimoto. After the breakup of Slugfest, the two kept working on songs, many of them acoustic arrangements with Okimoto on upright bass, while they searched for a drummer. The search ended when an old college friend of Okimoto's, Dalton Davis, answered a classified ad the two had placed. The three began playing around Seattle and soon recorded an EP at Egg studios. After a couple years of local gigs, the three parted ways due to artistic differences.
