Weightless is priceless…

Stuporhero is pleased to announce that Weightless, our third album, is available as a free download here on our website.

In addition to high quality 320 kbps MP3s, we're offering AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format) and FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) files.

We thought long and hard about what to do with this new batch of songs and determined that the typical avenues of producing, distributing, and promoting an album are cost prohibitive to the band at this time.  We’ve decided that releasing the music for free is the best hope we have at present to achieve our goal, which is for our music to be heard, shared, and hopefully enjoyed by as many people as possible.

While we’re in the generous spirit, we’re also offering free downloads of our first two albums, It Would Be Nice To Wake Up and Last Star Shining.

Also available for free download on our website is Lo-Fi Lounge Volume 1, a collection of 4-track demos and studio outtakes.

Please help us spread the word.  Life is expensive…Stuporhero songs are free!

Marshmallow Bunnies

Two new songs posted in the Lounge.  One old, one new.  Look for more songs in the coming weeks.

Paranoid People

New song in the Lounge today called Paranoid People.  This was a demo for Weightless recorded in our home studio.

Lo-Fi Lounge is back!

After some time off, the Lo-Fi Lounge is back with a brand new track.  The song is Hollow Man, an outtake from our new album Weightless.  Initial recording took place at Earth To Emma Studios and was finished in our home studio.   As always, we're offering all songs as free 320 kbps MP3s.

If you missed the previous round of demos, outtakes, and other lo-fi gems, you can find them as downloads on the Lo-Fi Lounge Volume 1 Free Music page or on CD in the Shop.  Both come complete with lyrics & unreleased material.

Check back here weekly for more additions to the Lounge.

As always, thanks for listening!

Girls just wanna have fun

Good times were had by all in Vancouver...

Chuckles gets some much needed rest before the show.

Chuckles is a sucker for light shows.

Are you there God?  It's me, Chuckles.

O Canada

We're off to Vancouver, BC to play New Music West, Vancouver's only annual music festival!  Our showcase is on Friday, May 16 at one of Vancouver's coolest up-and-coming clubs, The Royal Unicorn (how could it not be cool with a name like that?!?).  We play at 9pm sharp and would love to see you there!

Chuckles is super excited because she loves Canada AND she just scored this awesome new dress!  Hooray!

Waiting for the frogs to fall

Sorry this blog has been neglected for so long.  We both suffered back injuries (those darned discs!) while on tour last fall and were forced to take some time off from playing shows, etc.  Thankfully, Chuckles made it through unharmed and all members of Stuporhero are currently almost healed and ready to get the music going again.

Spring has almost sprung in the Northwest and we have made a temporary move from the bright lights, big city of Seattle to a small town in Eastern Washington called Wenatchee (pop. 27,856).  Why the change in surroundings?  Our friend Chad’s recording studio (Earth to Emma) is in Wenatchee and the current plan is to spend the next year or so writing and recording new songs.

Songs for an upcoming release, Weightless, are currently being mastered and we’ll be making some live appearances this summer in and around the Seattle/Portland area.

Stay tuned for new songs and updates about how Chuckles and friends are adjusting to life in a small town where the skies are not cloudy all day (at least not every day).

xo,
Jen, Will, Chuckles

Last song in the Lo-Fi Lounge for 2007

Hey Everyone!

16 weeks of new songs has flown by as the Lo-Fi Lounge comes to a close with one last free mp3 download. Thanks to everyone who has visited the Lounge, downloaded songs, and sent us emails and comments. We had a few more songs we were preparing to add to this group of songs, but the recent Seattle rainstorm has flooded Basement Tape Studios (our basement!) and we had to unplug and move our equipment until we can get it cleaned up. We decided this was the perfect time to post the last song. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to and download all 16 songs, they will remain in the Lounge for the next few months as we get ready for the next group of songs. In addition, we plan to release “Lo-Fi Lounge, Volume One”, on CD, including the 3 or 4 songs that didn’t make the website, all on one disc! We’re also busy working on new songs for an upcoming EP, hopefully to be released Spring 2008.

What people are saying about Stuporhero...

Seattle Powerpop Blog:  "Stuporhero’s lovely new album Weightless consists of nine charming, skillfully arranged, concise little pop songs... ranging in mood from giddy to melancholic to pensive to dreamy and it holds together well like a modest, scaled down Pet Sounds or In the Aeroplane Over the SeaBe warned: you may find this sweet little pop confection quite addictive."

Tastes Like Chicken:  "Give this band some of your attention."

West Coast Performer
:  "Poised to bridge the pop/punk
gap, the dynamic duo and mannequin sidekick revitalize
experimental indie with a much needed — and perhaps overdue — twist."

Seattle Sound:
"Well-practiced and well-versed in the art
of fuzz and wit..."

NPR:
"With songs about super balls, death robots, and the
dubiously anthematic 'Punk Like You',  Stuporhero's latest
album, Last Star Shining, is perfect driving music… if you're
driving the Batmobile."

All Music Guide:  "The Seattle duo (and their mannequin
drummer) return with another slew of stupor-pendous songs
on Last Star Shining, the pair's sophomore set. Across sixteen
tracks and a hidden number, Jen Garrett and Will Troy's
breezy, iridescent, not quite lo-fi, music shines bright."
